Double medal success for Lanark ASC at West District Championships

Lanark ASC Medallists Craig Shaw and Millie McArthur


Lanark ASC were in action at Tollcross ISC, Glasgow for the third time in 2020 when 20 swimmers competed at the West District Round 2 long course Championships.

The Club provided 2 medallists: Twelve year old Craig Shaw was second in the 50m breaststroke and Millie McArthur (14) won the 50m freestyle (29.34) and was third in the 200m freestyle.. She also finished 4th in the 50m backstroke and 5th in the 200m IM. Other top 6 finishers were; Justin Bone (13) 6th 1500m freestyle, Euan McLeod (15) 4th 200m freestyle, Evi Mackie (11/12) 4th 200m breaststroke and 6th 50m butterfly and Abbigail McArthur (17o) 5th 200m backstroke.

New personal bests were  set by Katie Towers, Abbie Barnstaple, Ayla Miller, Ross Carswell, Cameron Bruce, Benji Jones, Caitlyn Hamilton, Connor Fallon, Michael Maxfield and Alistair Dunsmore.

Coach Karen Kelly said after the Meet. “The competitions are coming thick and fast now. Some of the younger swimmers hadn’t competed over some of their events long course before so this was a big learning curve for them. Millie had a fantastic 50m freestyle, qualifying 7th and ending up taking first place. Well done to young Craig ton his silver in the 50m breaststroke.”
