Lanark ASC Swim Report

Report by Karen Kelly

A busy programme of competitions in November for Lanark ASC came to an end at the West District Senior Age Group Championships held at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Sixteen year old Abbigail McArthur finished 6th in the 200m backstroke and was also a finalist in the 100m backstroke.

In the 14 years age group Euan McLeod dipped under 1.10 in the 100m butterfly for the first time which earned him a place in the final where another improved time (1.08.47) saw him finish just outside the top 6. Finalists in the 15 year old age group were Niamh Jeffrey in the 100m breaststroke and Caitlyn Hamilton in the 100m butterfly, her first District Final and a fine personal best swim.

Alistair Dunsmore broke the magic minute for 100m freestyle (59.36) and there were excellent personal best swims by Benji Jones, Connor Fallon and Michael Maxfield.

After the final District Championships of the season coach Karen Kelly said “It was heartening to see four swimmers reach finals and Alistair and Euan to reach landmark times in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly.”
