Millie performed admirably to clinch silver in her debut
Lanark ASC’s Millie McArthur earned a silver medal at the East District Open Water Championships at Lochore Medows in her first competitive outing in the discipline.
The 12-year-old had an excellent swim to take silver in the junior women’s (11/12 tears) 1km race in a time of 19 minutes 50 seconds, only five seconds off the East District Open title.
Euan McLeod was also making his debut at an open water event, finishing in fourth place in the 13/14 age group.
In the 15/16 years girls 1km event Heather Stevenson finished in sixth, one place ahead of Abbigail McArthur.
Lanark ASC coach Karen Kelly was proud of her swimmers.
She said: “Well done to all four of them and to coach Stephen Pratt for all his work in the open water discipline of the sport with the swimmers.”
