Castlebank could be crowned one of UK's top parks

Castlebank Park Lanark

Castlebank Park is in the running to be named one of the top 10 parks in the UK as part of the Green Flag Award’s People’s Choice competition – and your vote can make all the difference.

The top 10 parks are decided by the public, with Strathaven featuring in last year’s winning locations.

Over 2,000 Green Flag Award parks across the country are eligible and Castlebank could be among the winners this year.

The area has been redeveloped in recent years by the Lanark Community Development Trust, in conjunction with South Lanarkshire Council.

In 2018, Castlebank Horticultural Centre was opened and to date the centre has engaged with around 3,000 people in a variety of growing, learning and green educational activities, events & workshops.

Castlebank was granted Green Flag status in 2016 and must meet strict guidelines in order to retain the award on an annual basis.

Voting closes on Wednesday 25th November 2020.
