The Rotary Club of Lanark welcomes new President

David Gemmell

PRESIDENTIAL HANDOVER 2020 THE ROTARY CLUB OF LANARK

Following a virtual handover due to Lockdown, David Gemmell has taken over as the new President of The Rotary Club of Lanark.

David, a native of Ayrshire, studied Zoology at the University of Glasgow and after gaining a PhD he joined the pharmaceutical industry, working in England and laterally with Organon Laboratories by Newhouse.

On retirement David spent some time in various voluntary roles as well as becoming a member of the Rotary club.

David is pictured above with the new chain of office. The old ribbon needed to be replaced to accommodate future presidents names. Marianne Bond laboriously and painstakingly hand stitched all the 70 engraved name plates of past presidents onto the new ribbon. The club are indebted to her for undertaking this task.

The Coronavirus has changed many things including the way the club will have to work in the foreseeable future but David is committed to working with members to serve the community and indeed the wider world wherever help is needed.
