The Clyde Walkway at New Lanark: one of many local walks to enjoy this autumn

If you're ending September with a long weekend, here are some ideas to keep you busy in and around Lanark!

Thursday 26th

Kick start your weekend with an evening meal at The Restaurant at the Woodpecker. The 'Date Night' special is available on Wendesday and Thursday evenings, offering fantastic value at £40 for two people to enjoy steaks and a bottle of wine. Click here to book.

You can also pop into The Tolbooth over the weekend (not Sunday) to see September's exhibition 'Landmarks', featuring line drawings of prominent Lanark buildings.

Friday 27th

If you're looking to keep the kids busy on Friday, take them along to the Autumn Family Gardening Club at Castlebank Horticultural Centre. The session is running from 10.30am - 12.30pm and will include a variety of fun gardening and nature activities. Email info@lanarktrust.co.uk for more information and to book.

If the weather is nice in the afternoon, why not enjoy a picnic at The Loch or head to New Lanark World Heritage Site for one of their famous ice creams?

Saturday 28th

On Saturday, head to Valley View in the Clyde Valley to enjoy their new Maize Maze plus the Adventure Park, Restaurant and Soft Play. Click here to find out more.

Get ready to SHOUT on Saturday evening as LULU returns to Lanark Memorial Hall as part of her 'On Fire' Tour! On Fire is a show packed full of hits, in which Lulu takes us on her own personal journey through her music. Supported by a 4-piece band, LED screen with carefully selected family and career defining moments.  Lulu will have you sitting, standing, dancing, singing, laughing and simply listening to an amazing story that started on 3rd November 1948. Click here to book tickets.

Sunday 29th

Take it easier on Sunday and visit the new exhibition at New Lanark World Heritage Site, 'Snapshots of a Lost World: The Decline of Scottish Industry'. A free photography exhibition looking at New Lanark's past, present and its evolving future. 14th September - 27th October. Click here for more information.

Monday 30th

Stretch your legs on Monday and enjoy one of the many walks around the town. You can follow in the Footsteps of William Wallace, marvel at the Falls of Clyde and see magnificent views from the top of Tinto. Bypass Castlebank Park and you can also pick up one of the new 'Wildflower and Tree guide' leaflets in the car park to see which varieties you can spot on your walks. Click here to see the full range of Lanark walking leaflets.
