Lanark stalwart Sylvia Russell receives her MBE

Sylvia was presented with her MBE last week

Lanark Community Development Trust chair Sylvia Russell has received her MBE for services for services to the community and Heritage in Lanarkshire.

Sylvia, who first learned of the good news in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June, was presented with her MBE by Prince William.

She has worked tirelessly to promote the town and has played a pivotal role in the transformation of Castlebank Park and the creation of its horticultural centre.

Sylvia is also a past chair of the Lanimer Committee and delivered the stunning Lanark Air Show sculpture at Lanark Loch.

She is an enthusiastic member of many organisations in the town and is a fantastic ambassador for the Royal Burgh.
