Discover Lanark Business Improvement District (BID) has officially announced a spectacular line-up of free events set to take place in Lanark town centre throughout spring and summer 2025.
The season kicks off with Lanark Medieval Celebration on Saturday, 3 May, offering an action-packed day filled with thrilling encounters and hands-on activities. Visitors can experience the excitement of Fight A Knight, combat demonstrations by the Infernal Unicorns and Glasgow Swordbreakers, and a variety of living history displays. From pottery decoration and blacksmithing to arrow-making, basket weaving, and lace-making, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Children can take part in medieval games, interactive activities, and face painting, while history enthusiasts can marvel at displays of weapons and armour presented by The Society of John De Graeme and The Society of William Wallace.
A Medieval Lady and her Dragon will also make a special appearance, and the Tolbooth hosts an exciting exhibition Sword & Chain: A Journey Through Medieval Combat.
On Saturday, 24 May, Lanark Spring Market will bring together over 25 traders, offering a vibrant selection of unique gifts, handcrafted goods, stunning artwork, home decor, fresh local produce, and delicious baked treats.
With a mix of new vendors and returning favourites, this market is a must-visit for shoppers looking for something special and unusual.
The school holidays mark the highly anticipated return of Jurassic Lanark, now in its fifth year due to overwhelming demand! This thrilling event promises a roaring good time for dinosaur enthusiasts with a Monster Trail, Mini Trail, and Dino-Mite Kids Fun Weekends.
Taking place in Lanark town centre and Castlebank Park, visitors can encounter more than 25 giant prehistoric creatures, including exciting new additions for 2025: Parasaurolophus and Ankylosaurus.
This free, family-friendly trail is a highlight of the summer, drawing visitors from near and far.
Antonia Pompa, Discover Lanark BID Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming events, stating, “We are thrilled to present another exciting summer of activities in Lanark, welcoming new visitors while providing fantastic experiences for our local community.”
She also encouraged attendees to explore Lanark’s rich attractions, adding, “While you’re here, don’t forget to visit Wallace House, the Tolbooth, and Lanark Museum. Be sure to support our wonderful local businesses, including shops, cafes, pubs, and eateries, for a well-deserved break.”
