Volunteer Befrienders Needed! - Groups and One to One)
Are you passionate about improving outcomes for our young people? Can you spare one evening a week?
We are looking for volunteers to take on one-to-one befriender/group befriender roles. roles. As a befriender, you will plan activities for your young person, such as cinema trips and outings to local attractions and games, while offering them opportunities to grow in confidence and improve their well-being.
In return, you will be fully supported by our dedicated staff, reimbursed for any expenses relating to your voluntary role and, of course, have the opportunity to make a positive difference to the life of a young person.

Key Role Requirements
• To offer time to a young person on a weekly basis for 2 to 3 hours to share outings and activities
• To build up a trusting supportive relationship with the young person
• To establish and maintain appropriate boundaries within the befriending relationship
• To be aware of and work within COVEY policy, procedure and practice
• To offer acceptance and understanding to a young person
• To be reliable and consistent
• To maintain close communication with COVEY staff through regular support and supervision
• To inform staff of any concerns about the young person
• To respect confidentiality
• To work with an anti-discriminatory approach
• To attend additional training throughout Befriending.
• To attend support meetings as agreed with Befriending Coordinators.
• To submit expense claims monthly.
Key Skill Requirements
To be friendly, non-judgement and be willing to listen to young people. Previous work with young people an advantage!
