This scenic walk is just under 5km and takes you from Lanark's town centre, descends into New Lanark, and returns again. Enjoy panoramic views of New Lanark's historic rooftops and catch a glimpse of the Dundaff Linn waterfall - you may hear it before you see it! The walk starts in Lanark Wellgate and progresses along Braxfield Road before entering the boundary and descending the hill into New Lanark World Heritage Site. One of Scotland's 6 UNESCO World Heritage Site! The walk returns back on itself into Lanark, so you may wish to take a break by visiting the Mill Shop, Mill Café or Visitor Attraction within New Lanark. You could also extend your visit by visiting the Falls of Clyde Waterfalls along the well-marked board walk route.
