Lanark now has two new community resources, with the recent launch of the Lanark Men’s and Women’s Sheds at CCI, Langloch Farm.
The Lanark Women’s Shed started a few months ago and those attending have already set to work upcycling furniture and learning new carpentry and craft skills.
And the men have been busy too, with the first timber cut, and more importantly the first brew poured, at the inaugural Lanark Men’s Shed session on Thursday 9th September.
The Men’s Shed will be open every Thursday from 10.30am until 2.30pm (and Tuesdays from 5th October) and men are welcome to drop in, for as long as they like, to take part in the work or for just a cup of tea and a chat. The first task for the Men’s Shed is to kit out their area so that people can work on either their own personal projects or on community projects such as repairing tools and organising a tool library for the community.
The Women’s Shed is currently open on Tuesdays and Fridays. These are also drop in sessions, where women can stay for as little or as long as they like. The initial focus of the Women’s Shed has been undertaking minor furniture repairs and upcycling. They have also been sharing craft skills such as cross stitching.
If you or anyone you know would be interested in finding out more about the Sheds contact Valerie (Women’s) or Niall (Men’s) on 01555 664211, email enquiries@cciweb.org.uk or alternatively just pop in to any of the sessions.
