In the second 'Discover Lanark Business Showcase' of 2021, we are speaking to Clare of 'Pretty as a Picture Gifts' based at Lanark's Caldwellside Industrial Estate.

What do you sell?

We offer personalised lasercut greeting cards covering a wide range of occasions; printed gifts such as mugs and ceramic keepsakes; and engraved gifts such as chopping boards and hanging signs.

What are your best sellers (products / services)?           

Our besties range is super popular; customers love the personalisation of the cards and matching gifts.

We’re delighted that our new mug range has had a great response. Adding new ranges and testing new products can be a lengthy process, so when they look great and get a positive reaction from our customers, it’s a great feeling! 

Since Covid-19 lockdowns, our bear hugs tokens have become a best seller due to the increased demand in customers wishing to send love to family and friends they are apart from.

What makes your business unique?       

We are proud that our order fulfilment is completed under one roof i.e. cutting, engraving, printing, finishing and packing/posting. We strive for exceptional customer service and always want to help our customers find that perfect card and gift for every occasion. We are a small team who have a passion for what we do and that translates into each and every product made with love and care. 

Why should people support your business?  

We are a friendly team who love to make products that make people smile. We have tried to make it easy for customers to shop for every occasion on our website from the comfort of their home, and get the perfect card and gift.

Is there anything else interesting you would like to highlight?

We’re always adding new product ranges and designs. How have  customers reacted to you business?

We have a fantastic customer base that interact with us on social media – we love to see happy recipients with their cards and gifts. We are very grateful to have so many repeat customers.

Tell us a bit more about yourself…

I chose to work from home to spend more time with my two little monsters, because I realised that they don’t stay little for long. Designing and making cards and gifts allowed me to achieve that goal. The business has continued to grow (as have the kids!), so when I outgrew my home office and workshop, I took the next step of setting up my new studio, based close to home, but with the space and separation my work needed.

I have always loved being creative, whether it’s making themed birthday cakes for family, or decorating birthday banners with the children.

When I’m not in the workshop, I can be found outdoors exploring the beautiful walks Lanark has to offer, and I love cosy movie nights in with my husband and kids.
