New Lanark World Heritage Site Announces Partnership with University of Strathclyde’s Centre for Lifelong Learning

New Lanark World Heritage Site is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the University of Strathclyde's Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL), expanding adult education opportunities beyond the university campus. In the spirit of Robert Owen, and his pioneering belief in the power of education, this collaboration reinforces our commitment supporting opportunities for education at New Lanark.

Starting in the 2024/25 academic year, New Lanark will become one of only three satellite venues for the CLL's popular adult learning classes. This marks an exciting chapter for the UNESCO World Heritage site, blending history with an enriching educational experience.

Courses On Offer

Students can look forward to three exciting adult learning courses in 2024:

1. Artefacts and Artistry – A one-day class that explores the art of observational drawing, taking inspiration from New Lanark's rich history and stunning surroundings. Students will spend time drawing from life and developing their compositions.
2. Landscape Meets Nature: Learning from the Masters – Over 6 weeks, students will draw and paint the picturesque landscapes of New Lanark, with inspiration from masters such as Tom Fairs and Giorgio Morandi. This immersive experience includes both studio sessions and outdoor sketching.
3. Family History Research – An 8-week course offering a guide to researching your own genealogy. Students will explore online and historical resources to build a meaningful family history.
