Team Inferno from Lanark-based Dance Rite Academy have come away with a World Silver Medal from the recent Allstar World Championships held in Orlando. The talented group of 16 girls competed in the Junior Hip Hop division at world level after being crowned national champions and remaining undefeated in the UK this season.
Team Inferno is made up of 16 girls aged 11-14 and is coached by Sarah, Elyse and Jordyn. The 16 girls are Becca Allison, Cara Buckingham, Pippa Forbes, Libby Forbes, Lucy Brown, Ava O’Donnell, Eilidh Smith, Ruby Kennedy, Millie Bruce, Ella Samson, Ava Muir, Olivia McKinlay Jack, Charlotte Philip, Nieve O’Donnell, Grace McKeever and Olivia Wilson.
Getting to Orlando was not easy and the group raised funds to enable them to take part including a sponsored run, a cycle challenge, raffles and donations from local businesses.
Their success would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of their teachers. Many of the girls have attended Dance Rite from the age of 3 and take part in multiple classes in many different styles.
The trip was made even more memorable by an early arrival in Orlando which enabled them to fit in some extra training but also to share some additional team activities including a pool party and a team dinner.
