Highlights of a varied programme of events revealed

Lanark Italian Society opens its new season on Monday 3rd October at 7.30pm with a Cheese and Wine evening at Lanark Library.

The society meets monthly and has a rich line-up of guest speakers for the coming months.

The programme features two prestigious speakers from the world of Opera. Derek Clark, Head of Music at Scottish Opera will be talking about 19th century Italian opera, whilst Director Kate Brown, who has worked all over Europe and the US, will entertain with her take on the early days of opera in Italy.

Other highlights include Luca Fois talking about the magic and mystery of Sardinia. Member and regular speaker, Ed Archer will talk on Rome in antiquity as part of a joint meeting with the Lanark Archaeological Society.

Similar to last year, the season starts with a cheese and wine evening in the library and in December the society's annual Festa will take place in Lanark Golf Club.
