On 13th March, Lanark Amateur Musical Society (LAMS) hosted its first ever Virtual Ladies Day fundraising event. The club are delighted with the success of the event which has raised £630 for LAMS and £155 for the event's affiliate charity - Women's Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire.
As well as raising vital funds for the club itself, the fundraising event committee desired to support another local charity, with Women's Aid South Lanarkshire being chosen as a very suitable cause for a Ladies Day event.
The new type of virtual fundraising event was enjoyed by around 90 participants who enjoyed browsing 30 virtual shopping stalls, beauty and gin cocktail demonstration videos, live raffle and musical entertainment from LAMS members.
Attendees had lots of positive feedback after the event:
"Thanks so much! I've had a fantastic afternoon! Well done to everyone organising and all the stalls! What a lovely way to spend a lockdown Saturday."
"It's been a lovely wee day! You've all done such a fabulous job putting this together!"
"Thanks for a lovely afternoon! So much work goes into putting on an event like this. Well done to everyone that put this together."
Over the past 12 months, LAMS members have participated in social events to support other charities, including a Murder Mystery evening which raised £80 for Macmillan Cancer Support, a Secret Santa drive which raised £140 for Alzheimer Scotland and a local #BakeOff Fundraiser which raised £400 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
The club are determined to keep spirits high for their members, and have been very busy over the last year creating a variety of group and solo musical videos which can be enjoyed by the public on the LAMS Facebook page.
LAMS hope to be back rehearsing as soon as COVID restrictions allow, and cannot wait to return to the stage of the Lanark Memorial Hall!
