One eye on the future!

Colin Kirk, local caravan, and motorhome repair specialist have big plans for the future. Having only moved to Lanark a short while ago, Colin has experienced an upturn in trade and is thinking about moving to bigger premises. Colin said, “I was a bit worried when we moved the business from Carluke to Lanark that we would lose some of our customers, but in actual fact is has been good for the business, and we’ve continued to grow.” Business has been so good in fact that Colin has started to think about expanding the business, “we’d love to have more bays and potentially a ramp to assist when working on caravans or motorhomes”. Asked why he thought the business had done so well, Colin said “we offer a unique service, from routine service to full repair and adaptation. I think that because we’re one of only a handful of business offering this kind of service in the whole of Scotland, it makes the business somewhat distinctive.” Colin said that as well as servicing local residents in Lanark, he gets clients from much further afield. Kirk Caravans is currently sitting with a customer base in excess of 800 clients! “We get people quite regularly coming from the likes of Oban, Inverness and even on occasion from south of the border.” Kirk caravans must be doing something right as they recently picked up an award from Lanarkshire retail business awards for ‘Best consumer of the year’. Colin said it was great to have been nominated, let alone win the award, “It is nice to receive recognition for the work we do, and knowing that customers are happy with the work we do is very satisfying.” Colin said that Kirk Caravans tries to support local business where possible, by using local suppliers such as TMS in Carluke, but noted “it is hard as there aren’t any caravan manufacturers in Scotland so we have to often get things from out with Scotland, where possible though I will try to source parts as locally as I can.” The business was setup by colin and his wife Lorraine back in 2013 and with one other engineer called Eion. They have a great team of staff, they also sub contract some other professionals in to occasionally help. He doesn’t yet have a store to visit but commented that “if a client is looking for a particular part, they can visit the workshop or get in contact with us, and we can order it in for them.”
