St Nicholas Playgroup & Toddlers has, like many other groups, suffered during this pandemic. It has been frustrating and saddening for them to be unable to offer their service to the local community. Many children and families have missed out on the play, fun, socialisation, friendship and support that this group offers.
St Nicholas Playgroup and Toddlers was founded 53 years ago and holds a special place in the heart of the Lanark Community. The Group has had little to no income over the past few months yet still has core costs such as insurance to meet.
Playgroup Manager, Lynne Steer had been concerned as to how core costs would be covered with no income and also how the not for a profit charity would breakeven when they were allowed to return if numbers are still restricted. (Particularly as they already have to supplement fees with fundraising and funds from external funders just to survive).
Lynne’s lockdown exercise has been open water dipping with her friend and former Playgroup parent, Patricia West and so they decided that instead of Dry January they would do Wet February, challenging themselves to ‘A Dip A Day’ to raise funds for St Nicholas Playgroup and Toddlers. Rest assured though, they are following all appropriate guidelines from the Outdoor Swimming Society as well as all current COVID-19 guidance and regulations.
The Dippy Dippers have just done day 4 of 28 and are astounded by the amazing response to their Challenge. They would like to thank all those who have donated to the Fundraiser so far.
And St Nicholas Playgroup and Toddlers hope to be back, in some way, shape or form very soon!
