Jurassic Lanark is back, and this year's event promises to be the biggest and best yet, according to organisers Discover Lanark.
The summer holiday attraction boasts two free trails: the classic Monster Trail in Lanark town centre and Castlebank Park, and a new Mini Trail around local shops. Complementing these trails are the Dino-Mite Kids Fun Weekends, packed with interactive activities, making Jurassic Lanark a must-visit for families with dinosaur-loving kids.
Jurassic Lanark launched on Saturday, June 22nd, and is open daily until Sunday, August 11th.
"We are thrilled to introduce a second trail this year and hope that dinosaur enthusiasts will visit Lanark multiple times," said Antonia Pompa, Discover Lanark Manager. "With over thirty dinosaurs to find and a new walkthrough dinosaur ribcage as the centrepiece of our Dinosaur Graveyard outside the Tolbooth, there's even more to explore."
She added, "Many of our dinosaurs are located in Lanark town centre, but we're excited to include Castlebank Park in the Monster Trail for a second time. The park was a huge hit last year with its additional attractions like the Fairy Dell wood carvings and the labyrinth, as well as play and picnic areas."
She continued, “We hope that visitors to the event will also take some time to explore the town and take a break from their dinosaur hunt to enjoy our excellent shops, cafes and eateries.”
Visitors are encouraged to start their adventure at the Tolbooth on High Street (open daily from 10am to 5pm) to pick up a free trail map. Those who successfully navigate the trail and avoid being "eaten" by the giant prehistoric creatures can return to the Tolbooth to claim a free Jurassic Lanark survivor badge.
