Border Biscuits Community Support, the charitable foundation set up by leading UK biscuit manufacturer Border Biscuits, has partnered with the Rotary Club of Lanark to achieve fundraising success for local clubs and organisations in a time when many have been struggling due to the impact of Covid-19.

The two organisations have been working closely together on an annual Christmas project since 2013 and this year’s iteration has been hailed a tremendous success despite the complexity added by many of the supporter organisations being unable to meet.

This year Border Biscuits donated over 4,000 gift tins and cartons to the project with the Rotary Club of Lanark and over 25 local organisations from a wide range of activities going on to raise over £18,000 in sales of the stock.

As part of the activity, members of the Rotary Club of Lanark purchased boxes of biscuits and donated them to the Clydesdale Foodbank where they were gratefully received while the Carnwath Gala Committee raised funds to distribute 150 gift tins to old age pensioners in the village.

John Cunningham, Chief Executive of Border Biscuits and Founder of Border Biscuits Community Support, said: “It has been an extremely difficult year for so many people across the UK and it is great to see organisations attended and run by the people of Lanark and the surrounding areas able to benefit from such a great project." 

“We have worked closely with the Rotary Club of Lanark for a number of years now and the project continues to go from strength to strength. Many of the clubs in the local area will have struggled to fundraise this year, so to see over £18,000 raised in total this year, and over £40,000 raised since 2013, for local organisations is a great achievement from all involved.”
