Known by locals as Veitch’s Close, Robert Veitch started business here as a baker in 1886. Several generations of the family continued to run the bakery in the close until the 1980s.
Originally a cul-de-sac, the close led directly to the bakery, open from the early hours of the morning supplying early risers with newly fired rolls and bread, warm from the oven.
The murals, painted in 2018 and depicting an episode from the life of William Wallace, were a community led art project in conjunction with Glasgow based Art Pistol.
