Lanark community development trust (LCDT) would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete its community survey. 210 responses were submitted representing the views of over 470 people who live in area, as well as those who work, visit and have an interest in Lanark.
Sylvia Russell, Chair of the Trust, said she was delighted with the public response to the survey which will help the Trust to form its plans for the future. She added that “The responses that we have received are full of good suggestions for future developments. The town belongs to the people who live in it and the future actions of the Trust must reflect their needs and opinions.”
An early snapshot of survey feedback showed that a majority of respondents feel Lanark is a ‘good’ place to live with a lot of resources including great community spirit, but a number of issues were also highlighted, from empty shops to a lack of things for teenagers and young people to do. A range of project ideas were suggested for consideration, from more outdoor seating and benches to music festivals, farmers’ markets and building restoration.
If you’d like to find out more about the survey and the work of LCDT, there will be a public information evening taking place on the 26th of November at 7pm upstairs in the Tolbooth. The Trust would like to welcome all members of the community, as well as representatives of local organisations to come along to meet the board of the Development Trust, discuss the findings of the survey and what those might mean for the Trust and Lanark, more widely.
Free entry, upstairs in the Tolbooth, 7pm.
