Lanark United 2 v 6 Wishaw FC.
After two good wins, Lanark got exactly what they deserved from this performance full off errors.
The home side actually started the match fairly well and took the lead when Sean Lindsay forced a corner in the 5th minute, when PJ O’Donnell flighted the ball in Shug Kerr powered a header home for 1-0.
The visitors were on level terms after 12 mins when a corner was given away cheaply by Lanark and after a header back across goal McCart headed home for 1-1, this was the start of a good spell for Wishaw and they took the lead after 30 mins when an error on the Lanark right allowed them in and a Coffey shot was well saved by Johnson in the home goal but the loose ball was bundled home by Halley for 2-1.
Worse was to follow for Lanark when they were caught napping at a quick free kick. Despite Johnson making another good save, Wishaw were first to react and Halley again bundled the ball home from close range for 3-1.
Lanark did pull a goal back in the 41st min when O’Donnell put a good ball in to the path of Cammy Lawson who strode forward and placed a low shot in to the corner of the net for 3-2.
Half time Lanark Untied 2 v 3 Wishaw FC.
Lanark controlled the start of the second half without actually threatening the visiting goal despite their possession and it was in fact Wishaw who stretched their lead mid-way through the half when Lanark were caught out on the right and a cross in was put home by McGarahan for 4-2 and a couple of minutes later a hopeful ball in from the right from Doran sailed over the head of Johnson for 5-2.
The final goal for Wishaw came in the 80th min when McGarahan was allowed to stroll through the defence to score to make it 6-2 to the visitors.
An all-round poor performance from Lanark shows how difficult it will be at times in a higher league.
