Lanark United made it two wins in as many encounters against Carluke Rovers after securing a 2-1 win against their Clydesdale rivals at the John Cumming Stadium on Monday night in the Sectional League Cup.

Former Rovers forward Ian Watt, who joined United during the summer, fired the Yowes ahead in the first half.

Watt then doubled Lanark’s advantage after the break from the penalty spot.

Mark Cassidy replied for the hosts but Lanark held on to claim all three points.

Both sides join Lesmahagow and Newmains United in their group, with Lanark welcoming Newmains United to Moor Park on Wednesday while Carluke Rovers travel to Lesmahagow.

The second round ties for the Sectional League Cup take place on Wednesday 15 August.
