Rotary Club sweep up Garside Curling League

The Rotary Club of Lanark were the only district 1020 team in the competition

The Rotary Club of Lanark have won the Garside Curling League title after beating Rutherglen 7-6 in the final to lift the trophy.

Rutherglen were in the lead going into the last end but the Lanark team managed to hold their collective nerve and with some composed play to win the contest.

The Royal Burgh team of Bill Stewart, Alistair Mackintosh, Frank Caddell and Martin Yuill sealed nine wins in the competition and played clubs from the 1230 and 1020 districts.

The event has been held annually since 1955 with games played at rinks including Braehead, Hamilton, East Kilbride and Greenside.
