Tesco and Border get their walking boots on again for Paradventures

Two of the town's top local employers have united to support Paradventures

Tesco and Border have joined forces once again to raise money for local charity Paradventures with staff from both businesses walking on the East Highland Way in the coming weeks.

The team will head north on Thursday 8 March, walking 20 miles over two days alongside Poppy McKenzie and her family, using an all-terrain wheelchair.

Tesco store manager Richard Mcallister and his staff will be raising funds in store over the coming weeks and he hopes that customers will dig deep to support the project, with the money going towards enabling local youngsters to experience outdoor adventures.

He said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in helping to put this event together once again. We are delighted to be working alongside Border to help raise money for Paradventures to allow them to continue their excellent work in the community.”

Lesley Ann Gray, brand and innovation director at Border, added: “We are very proud to able to make a difference in the local community and it is great to be able to work with Tesco to support Paradventures.  Our staff are really looking forward to taking part in the event and we are looking forward to getting started.”

Ex-Lord Cornet Gordon McGregor leads Paradventures, which makes outdoor adventure activities possible for people with disabilities.

He said: “On behalf of Paradventures I would like to say a massive thank you to the teams at Tesco and Border for embarking on this challenge. The support from Tesco, Border and the community will enable us to facilitate outdoor events for many local youngsters.”
